Sunset at Long Beach

about

I have been making art my whole life. As a young boy, I set up a studio in my parent’s basement and spent most of my free time painting and drawing.

I graduated from Harvard College with a degree in Visual and Environmental Studies, concentrating on printmaking under the tutelage of Michael Mazur. I also benefitted from an array of guest tutors including Philip Guston, Mary Frank, Alice Neel and Robert Motherwell.

I spent the next 35 years as a Creative Director in the fashion, beauty and luxury lifestyle sector, and founded my branding agency, Concrete Brand Imaging Group, in 1996.

Despite the demands of owning and running an agency, I always made time to pursue my art, and have had studios in my loft in NYC and my house in Sag Harbor for over 30 years.

I am now working full time on my art, and am incorporating the disciplines I had practiced in my branding and design work to communicate a world view that might not have existed had I pursued my art full time at a younger age, in what I hope is a unique and personal way.
